Context and Rationale
School Foundations
Schools play a critical role in fostering early interest in technology-rich learning. Through both curricular and extracurricular programs—coding clubs, robotics competitions, innovation expos, science days, space programs—young learners engage deeply in STEM learning and technology-rich curricula before reaching senior levels.
The Foundation seeks to complement and extend these efforts by targeting students on the cusp of post-secondary education and supporting their transition into advanced pathways. In addition, Schools are progressive in developing those key competencies of innovation and enterprise in young people. The Foundations aims to enhance the fusion of these capabilities in a technology-rich environment.
The Foundation recognises the importance of the role teachers and parents play in supporting and inspiring students and aims to support their professional learning as a key strategic driver in the mission.
We look forward to working in partnership with them.
Opportunity Landscape
In South Australia and beyond, industries in future-shaping domains such as renewable energy, space technologies, robotics, AI, and defence and medical engineering and new business applications present rich fields for student engagement and career pathways.
The Foundation recognises the strategic importance of connecting young talent to these industries early and providing hands-on exposure, learning experiences, and support for self-driven innovation.
There is a need to give greater exposure to exciting and lucrative work opportunities in these fields and to help pave the pathways to access such careers.
